Ampath Sunninghill branch
The service I received on my visit today was absolutely excellent. The nurse who attended to me was professional, warm and friendly.
HOWEVER the usual treatment is appalling. For example my prior visit to this one (last week), I asked for a blank blood test form and was treated with great suspicion - why do I want it, is the doctor I write on the form on the system etc...
That was not the first time and in 2017 I was treated with even more rudeness. The attitude was bad - I was treated like a nobody and I think it is related to the fact of Ampath's ridiculous policy of not allowing self-referrals. Lancet has no issue with self-referrals.
The only reason I chose Ampath for this test is because Lancet does not offer it. I want to make it absolutely clear that the service I received today was excellent HOWEVER this is definitely not the case in general. This service I received today was due to one individual nurse who should be commended for her great attitude. Sadly this is a rare exception.
I received my results just now only to discover that the incorrect test was ordered!
I specifically asked for the IgA antibodies. I wrote that on the form.
I explained that at great length before the blood was drawn.
I had already spoken to head office telephonically last week to confirm
Ampath offers the IgA version of the test. I understand that the test comes along with the IgG and IgM antibodies - the tests can't be separated - at least not ordered separately. So I specifically wrote IgA, IgG, IgM!
I got a quote last week and was quoted R509.10. The call agent confirmed that this was for the test that includes the IgA antibody. I asked for a specific code but was told IMM. This is clearly non-specific which I highlighted and no doubt is an abbreviation for immunology which is a category. Do you offer a test for the bacterium I asked for in the form of an IgA response? You can contact me privately to confirm the specific test to which I refer.
Thank you. I hate having to complain like this but I am now livid.
