Ampath Laboratories, sending out threatening emails including overdue account being sent out to the wrong person

For approximately a month I have been receiving more and more threatening messages on my cellphone that I owed Ampath Laboratories some money .

As I had been in hospital in March and had had blood tests done by Ampath I looked through my records and established that between my Medical Aid and myself I had paid Ampath in full. I emailed them including copied of all accounts, receipts etc but did not get any reply.

However the messages and phone calls continued to my cellphone and I phoned the Durban Branch ( who was the branch that had been threatening me. ) and was advised that they had no record of me owing them any money. However the messages continued and advised that the matter had been handed over to their attorneys.

Unfortunately this most threatening message arrived whilst my wife and I were on a well deserved holiday at Umfolozi Game Reserve where the cell contact is not good. The threat of being handed over to attorneys caused me great stress and many sleepless nights, just what one requires when one is on holiday trying to de stress.

On arriving home I emailed the Ampath main accounts department in Jhb and was informed that according to there records I did not owe any money.

I then today managed to get in touch with Ampath in Durban who eventually established that none of the messages were for me, but for a Mr Govendar who obviously had my cell number prior to me. I was extremely annoyed as this matter has caused me much stress and asked to speak to the manager, who as usual was out.

What really angers me the most is that on all of the nasty messages from Ampath the name the person was never stated, or the amount, or where the tests had been done. So no information at all which could have enabled the matter to be resolved .Just threats that if the account is not settled by a certain date the matter will be handed to attorneys and then that the matter had been handed over.

This is not the first occasion I have had problems with Ampath Accounts Department and generally because of this never use them. On this occasion being in hospital, having an operation etc, I had no option.

So here we are with Ampath inefficiency causing me a great deal of stress , many sleepless nights and not even an apology from them.

Should this sort of inefficiency be allowed or should legal action be taken against Ampath for all the stress caused by them.

Will this incident ensure that when Ampath send out threatening messages they include the full details of who the account is for as well as details of the account
