AMC Speed Cooker

I do not recommend buying an electrical product. My ‘Speed Cooker’ (pressure cooker) started tripping. As per the details given on the website I emailed what informed me what the nearest Service Centre (Pietermaritzburg) and got a fairly curt reply giving me a number to call in Durban. I was informed by the very nice lady at the Durban number that the problem is most definitely the element which I could get replaced at a cost of R600 which was fine by me, but then the problem got real. In order to get the element repaired I have to personally deliver the cooker to Durban, I also have to give a few days notice before I do this to make sure that someone is at the Service Centre to receive it. I live in Nottingham Road which is (N3 traffic not taken into account) a three hour round trip. I drive a Lexus, so I’m already R900 down on fuel before I set off on this journey. I was advised that upfront payment and courier is definitely not an option. So now I sit, with literally the most expensive ‘Speed Cooker’ in the country that if I want repaired I take a six hour trip (collection remember) or throw in the bin. For the price of this unlikely mission I can buy three very nice electronic pressure cookers on Takealot and not leave my front gate. I have the entire set of pots, I love them and loved my Speed Cooker but I am completely befuddled by this ridiculous and completely antiquated repair option for a simple element.
