Recruitment & Personnel
Amazon in South Africa launched an initiative to employ 3000 new customer service agents who would service there growing customer base On the 7th August 2020 I app**** very eagerly and positive to work for such a huge company and knowing I would get the job. A week after I app**** I got an email with forms which meant I am a good candidate for the job, so I completed the forms that were sent to me and forwarded documents requested from me, everything seemed in order. I passed all the relevant security checks they checked my employee references all seemed good all I was awaiting on was them telling me I could start training the job is mine, but then I got an email from an HR recruitment personnel Shaneez Benting who advised that my Rain 5G network was not the correct internet connection they want us to use. I then queried this with her a few times but they wanted lightning speed internet with no interruption a connected line. The recruiter just got straight to the point of just saying it’s not the requirements and advised i should reapply once my internet is sorted therefore my application was withdrawn. Good news I was able to get Fibre which required me to work from a family members house who just got fibre installed lucky me, I then reapp**** I did so two consecutive times a week after each other because for some reason my applications were being withdrawn which I was very shocked about because even though I sent numerous emails via the help portal and HR recruiter Shaneez I spoke to on my first application asking why my applications were withdrawn I got no feedback till today.
I see that the job post is no longer available
Does Amazon know that 95% of the population of people in South Africa use 4G/LTE or 5G internet connections be it wireless routers or just sim data and that the 5% of Fibre users are based in upper class suburbian areas roughly speaking but accurately so. DO they know that the majority of people that would apply for this employment initiative would come from middle or lower class areas where Fibre coverage is not available and how would an unemployed person achieve such a feat as Fibre? Just a thought
Yours Sincerely An Unemployed South African
