Goodbye Amazon and Kindle

Retail businesses should know that bureaucracy and frustration lead to a departed customer. This is no more evident than trying, unsuccessfully, to purchase a Kindle ebook. First my Kindle app tells me that a selected title is not available for purchase in your country (South Africa). Second,the Amazon website although offering titles in rands, only shows hard copy and audio book versions. No option to purchase a Kindle version! Third, a search for Kindle books, whilst displaying available titles, places a message to the effect that there are no kindle books available. As a long time kindle reader, I have been 'dissed' by the fact that Amazon has clearly deprecated its product and the ebook media market it once owned. Goodbye, Amazon. Your formal arrival in South Africa is nothing but a damp squib.
