Extremely Disappointed - Amazon South Africa does not sell Kindle books

I received a gift card for Amazon South Africa and was looking forward to using it to purchase Kindle books. However, I subsequently discovered that Amazon South Africa does not offer the opportunity to purchase Kindle books and there is also no way to transfer the amount on a gift card to another Amazon business that does offer Kindle books. I have always purchased my Kindle books via Amazon.com (USA) but once Amazon came to South Africa I assumed that we would receive the same range of services. I am extremely disappointed that the Amazon store in South Africa does not offer Kindle books and that Amazon does not make provision for a person to transfer the amount on a gift card to an Amazon store that does sell Kindle books.
