Amazon.co.za lousy service
9 Sept: I ordered and paid for a VonShef Food warmer – 7.2l tabletop buffet server, on Amazon.co.za 10 Sept: A parcel was delivered via DPD Laser courier. Item incorrectly delivered, an inferior product, a much smaller Concere food warmer. I immediately notified Amazon who contacted the supplier, Lullapi, who advised me that I can have a refund. I rep**** that I did not want a refund, I wanted the article I ordered. This was at 16.00. I checked Amazon.co.za website, and found the item I had ordered still there, still priced at R700, saying there were 2 in stock. Next day Lullapi informed me (via the Amazon website) that they did not have stock, I would have to accept the refund In accordance with Amazon's instructions I contacted DPD Laser and arranged and paid for the article to be collected and delivered to the address given to me by Lullapi, via Amazon. 18 Sept: The Item was collected by DPD Laser (I have proof it was collected, and the invoice of the charges incurred) After much back and forth between myself and Amazon consultants, Amazon advised that the supplier had not received the item, and it was up to me to investigate further. I contacted DPD Laser who sent me proof that the item had been delivered. I submitted this documentation to Amazon on two occasions. Still more back and forth between myself and various consultants, both by phone and on the chat line. I received an email from an Amazon consultant on Thursday 17th October, midday, promising I would hear from their “A-Z Guarantee” dept within 72 hours. Two days later I got an email from Amazon A-Z Guarantee saying the supplier has not received the parcel and it is up to me to investigate further. Again, I sent the email from DPD Laser stating the parcel was delivered on the 20th September, as well as the signed proof of delivery. This was sent via their website, my Accounts page, “Refund” on the facility for sending more detail. Again, the email telling me the parcel not delivered and instructions as to what I must do. I am sure no one is reading the details I submit. Today is the 28th October – the parcel was received by the supplier on 20th September, I have still not received my refund. Quite apart from being out of pocket to the tune of R700 plus courier charges of R140.60, my argument is this: I ordered the item from Amazon, I paid Amazon, but Amazon seem to absolve themselves of all responsibility for the transaction. From here on, Takealot have my custom; returning a package for any reason whatsoever is a piece of cake there, they organize the courier, and refunds are prompt.
