Poor diagnosis and poor service from Alpine Volkswagen Pinetown
On 29th January 2020, booked my wife's vehicle to have the aircon repaired. I arrived at the dealership at approximately 7:30am. I mentioned to the service adviser whom i only know by his first name JOHN that the aircon started malfunctioning since TRACKER installed their tracking device unit on the vehicle. At approximately midday i contacted JOHN to get an update on the aircon, only to be told that the technician has not worked with the vehicle as yet. At approximately 2pm, i received a call from JOHN and to be told that the POLLEN filter was so badly blocked with dirt that it affected the airflow into the aircon thus not cooling enough. Whilst i may not be a technical person, i am also not gullible to accept JOHN's explanation and what i thought at the time was a brushing off explanation.. Whilst i accept that the POLLEN filter can be the problem, i also know that the POLLEN filter cannot suddenly and coincidently become dirty and blocked immediately after TRACKER interfered with the vehicle. This JOHN still had the audacity to tell me that maybe this vehicle at 27000km worked in a mine that is why the POLLEN filter was dirty. Not a very clever statement to make when you are a SERVICE ADVISER. This statement definitely created doubts in my mind as to whether JOHN has any technical knowledge. On collection of the vehicle, i left the dealership an unhappy man. This was my 2nd bad experience at this dealer. Anyway, i booked the vehicle at a different VW dealership, Weiss motors. The experience was very different, chalk and cheese to differentiate the 2 dealerships. Weiss Motors, requested i bring the vehicle in for an assessment which i gladly did and that assessment session was so interactive between the technician and myself, which gave me hope that there is someone out there listening to the customer. After the assessment session the vehicle was booked in at Weiss Motors on the 7th February 2020. To cut a long story short, the problem was not the POLLEN filter but a problem created by TRACKER on installation of the tracking unit. Weiss Motors have recorded their findings and have photographic evidence. Something which JOHN at ALPINE PINETOWN did not do. Sometimes all it takes is to listen which JOHN at ALPINE PINETOWN certainly did not do. To all those Volkswagen owners who use the VW dealership network, choose your dealership very carefully don't trust everything your Service adviser's say to you. I will recommend Weiss Motors anytime and any day. I found myself a VW AGENT that i can trust.
