POOR COMMUNICATION AND SERVICE FROM A CAR DEALERSHIP
My vehicle, a Golf 7 TDi has a full service record at a VW dealership. I am extremely dissatisfied with the last 120,000 km service done at Alpine Motors. I was charged for a single globe to be replaced when these globes can only be bought in pairs. I was not told this neither was I given the un-used globe. It is highly recommended that during a cambelt change, both the timing belt and the water pump should be replaced due to a high risk of engine damage. All parts of the synchronous drive have the same mileage and wear and tear. At the 120,000 km service only the timing belt was changed and the water pump was not attended to. I was not informed of this. I had a service warranty at the time and was not informed that the service warranty does not include an inspection/and or change of the water pump. The service was done on the 9th January and I began having problems with the car on the 13th January. The replaced globe stopped working, this matter was only resolved when VWSA intervened and I was given my money back. The same day the engine light came on and Alpine Motors informed me that it was the sensor and wiring to the catalytic converter that had burnt and I need to replace it at a cost of approx R9000.00. At the end of February, the car began overheating. I took it to a private reputable mechanic (I did not take it to Alpine Motors because I lost my trust in them) and was told that the water pump needed to be replaced. The said mechanic was quite shocked that the water pump was not replaced together with the timing belt at the time of the service. I am a 68 year old retired female who cannot afford to buy another vehicle. I am an extremely disgruntled customer and am immensely disappointed with the service that I have received from Alpine Motors. This has had an adverse effect on my health.
