Alpine Volkswagen Pinetown

I was contacted today the 03/06/2025 via what's app by the Volkswagen Group Africa informing me of a potentially life-threatening recall- TAKATA airbag campaign on my VW Polo Vivo. My vehicle is a 2011 model, we are now in 2025, 14 years later. I have been driving my family and myself around in a potentially unsafe vehicle for the past 12 years? I then proceed to contact Alphine VW Pinetown. I was then advised that I would need to come in, they open at 7 am, and customers are served on a first come first serve basis. The lady I spoke to advised me to come in at 6.30 am and wait in a queue for inspection. I tried explaining to her, that it is impossible for me to come in at that time, I have a daughter that I transport to school and I reside in Merebank, which is about 30 km away. She said its the only way around it. I asked to speak to a manager (Cas). Cas also said there is no other way and I should bring the car in on a Saturday. That would not be possible - who will be funding my fuel costs of 60 km for travel to Alphine Pinetown for an error caused by VW. Why should I even be inconvenienced after 14 years? My working conditions does not allow time off from work. I have family responsibilities and it will not be possible for me to get to your branch at the recommended time of 6.30 am, even if I do, if the car is taken in for repairs, how do I go about getting back to work before 8 am? I am in the midst of writing exams and do not have the time and capacity to run around assisting VW to fix their errors. VW, you need to do better especially in cases like this and ensure that you are not inconveniencing your customers. Please, very kindly, make arrangements with me to come through for inspection or whatever needs to be done without interrupting my life and its flow. In addition, you have people at your branches (Cas) taking calls to assist customers but offering no support, just trying to find other ways to reshuffle my life and schedule for me to get my car in. She separates herself from VW, saying that this is coming from the VW Group and that it has nothing to do with them? Not great customer service and not something you should be telling your customers. VW, please come back with a better solution. Awaiting a great solution from you.
