Worst service

Worst customer service ever. They tell me they are in constant contact with repairers and will update me, but the only time I'll hear from IUM is after I have complained about further delays in the repair of my car. I'm now 5 months since my accident, and my car is with Auto Baltic East Rand who is running diagnostics for weeks, ordering parts that don't actually fix the problem, then proceeding with further prolonged diagnostics. Of course, IUM is happy with this - they aren't the ones being forced to wait over 5 months for their vehicle to be repaired and they don't actually care about their clients.

 Good Morning Dr Nkosi

The contents of your complaint under reply, as well as the various trailing emails, refers.

In that connection-

  1. Your frustration regarding the claim is well noted. To that extent, the purpose of insurance is to indemnify you, as the policyholder, against, inter alia, damage to your motor vehicle and to place you, subsequent to the incident, in the same position as you were prior to the incident occurring.

2. In such circumstances, IUM (Pty) Ltd (“IUM”) is mandated to ensure that the repairs to your vehicle are done correctly and to industry standards. To state that any delays or hurdles experienced by Volvo during the repair of your motor vehicle is acceptable to IUM is incorrect as IUM, of course, strives for claims to be handled professionally and expeditiously. IUM cannot simply return your motor vehicle to you without first ensuring that the motor vehicle is returned to you in the same condition prior to the incident and, most importantly, is safe for you to operate.

3. We understand your concerns, but Volvo must ascertain any problems with the motor vehicle so that it can be rectified before being returned to you. Given the report backs that we have received, IUM is confident that no delay has been negligently occasioned by Volvo and that the time lapse which has taken place, has been in the pursuit of adequately repairing your motor vehicle and ensuring that the mechanics and safety are in accordance with industry standards.

4. IUM will continue to follow-up, as we have done so previously, and apply pressure, where necessary, to ensure that your claim is finalised as soon as possible.

We trust that you will understand the purpose hereof and IUM will revert soonest with further feedback.
