Alibaba and it's resolution staff are lying to you!
I placed an order with a supplier through this platform and after finding out through customs that the supplier under-valued the parcel when they declared it, the taxes and duties amount increased from what I was initially invoiced and had already paid. The supplier was willing to pay penalties but did not feel it was their responsibility to pay the outstanding taxes and duties imposed because according to them, taxes and duties are the buyers responsibility. Fair statement, based on factual information and experience. I first raised a refund request on the 6th of June and was told I needed to wait 5 days for resolution, during that time I was also asked to submit evidence for Alibaba to decide if I was due my refund because of what happened. Fast forward to today the 15th of June, my dispute has had additional timers for resolution added increasing the turn around overall. Sheldon, from Alibaba has only stated in correspondence that I am liable for taxes and duties and should pay it and that the supplier would pay the penalties, I have yet to see them produce evidence of them making payment of the penalties. Alibaba is not taking into consideration that this supplier has acted ********ly and is trying to swing this resolution in favour of the supplier so that I don't get my money back. I do not have an issue with paying taxes and duties, I know the process, but what I am having an issue with here is that the supplier would rather drag this out and not produce evidence of them paying the penalties, than refund me because this is more of a headache than it's worth to continue to pursue. If a company refuses to refund my money knowing I do not have their goods, then this is not a business I wish to do business with. Disgusting platform, with disgusting ****my suppliers.
