Dissapointed beyond measure!
I can't even find words to say how unhappy I am with Alec Massel. We moved into the house we're currently renting from them in May 2019 before we moved in I spoke to Lindi regarding the meter box (prepaid electricity by Bodacious) she was so rude! she said that she's busy with admin she'll phone me. Anyway I left it at that. We then moved in, me and my husband are both working so we started moving in after work so in the night. We got there and there's no electricity the box is there but it did not work... So the caretaker came and bypassed it saying that they'll get it sorted. We waited and waited over a month eventually we got it sorted, buy electricity but notice very quickly that the electricity consumption is ridiculous! We ended up spending about R1700.00 in 11days! So obviously I start questioning this, asking for assistance as this is madness (especially because we're not even using an electrical stove) after multiple emails between me,Debbie,Lindi and the maintenance man I receive a call from Lindi shouting at me talking to me like I'm het dog. So yes obviously my husband lost it! Now this is after about a week of struggling to get them to attend to this issue. We go to their offices and ask for Debbie. Debbie assisted, she had them bypass the electricity, ordered a new meter box, got the thermostat of the geyser replaced etc. She than said that we'll be reimbursed(which until this day has not happened) So this time we get the new box buy electricity and once again the consumption is madness. I contact them once again, Debbie sent the electrician and plumber both of them were unable to find a problem, however both of them did say that the amount of units that is running out on a day is NOT right. From Friday night (10 o clock) to this morning(11 o clock) 122 units used. I don't have a stove, we use a gas stove. I use a kettle, a washing machine, a TV, and two fridges. That's it. This is an amount of R330.00 in three days! If I had to do this on a monthly rate it will come to R3300.00 !! This is absolutely ridiculous.
I contacted Debbie today saying thank you for the effort but we still have to find the problem, I don't know where or how but we have to sort this out as I can not go on like this. She then got this horrible attitude telling me that she's done everything she can her plumber and electrician can't find anything and if we can't afford it we must give notice!? I still spoke to her respectfully and asked her to just try and see where I'm coming from. She then just cut me off and said she'll get Bodacious to investigate? She than just said she's got a meeting to attend to and said bye. Leaving me right where I was. This is not fair towards us as we're paying tenants and I think it's our right to question these types of things. We can't just keep quiet and accept this.
I phoned Bodacious myself and spoke to a very nice lady. She then too said the average use per household per day should be about 18-22 units (not 40 and more like ours) I told her what appliances we're using and she too confirmed that this is not normal at all.
