Dreadful service

My partner and I flew Air Mauritius over the festive season from Johannesburg to Seychelles via Mauritius.

We had a dreadful experience on the airline. Below highlights the aspects of poor service levels experienced.

For each flight I requested a vegetarian meal as I do not eat red meat or chicken. For every single leg of the journey there was no vegetarian meal available. I ate absolutely nothing on all four flights. The airhostesses were completely unsympathetic and showed no effort to make an alternative plan.

Furthermore, for each leg of the flight my partner and I were not asked a single time for our seating preference. As a regular traveler, I have never not been asked where I would prefer to sit (window, aisle, back/ front of the plane). Not only were we not asked where we would prefer to sit, on one leg of the flight (Mauritius to Johannesburg) my partner and I were not seated next to each other. This reflects an absolute lack of care and diligence in dealing with customers. These seats were given to us on departure from Seychelles, therefore far in advance from flight departure. Once we arrived in Mauritius, and on our own observation, we requested new seats together. These were changed indicating that there were always two seats next to each other (it was not a case of limited availability).

Lastly, whilst on the flights we attempted to get the attention of airhostesses twice (for water and a blanket) using the notification light. Both times (on two separate flights) we received no service.

I write this note in order to highlight to you this unsatisfactory service. The service events described above are ordinary requests/ expectations of the customer using an airline - nothing out of the ordinary. To get so many basic requests wrong makes it even worse. This was our first time using Air Mauritius and, unfortunately, most likely our last. The overall experience was extremely poor and we certainly will be looking for alternatives the next time we travel within the region.
