Tenants must take priority
We've had a power outage in JHB CBD for the past four days because of the ****** cables and the damage that came with that such as transformers being damaged and other cables burnt. With all that said, AFHCO should have Generators set in their buildings to kick during such times. It is not acceptable for a company of their caliber because they deal with tenants and they are their number one client. Afcho must wake up and smell the coffee otherwise they will lose clients because there is good competition for them out there. Its not nice to see other buildings of a different company having electricity and life going on as normal while we struggle simply because AFHCO does not want to think. Generators show that there was a risk analysis made for all buildings and a contingency plan was put in place. There is nothing professional about this and actually, its a sign of poor management and incompetency on their side. We cannot cook, the meat and everything in the fridge is already spoilt, no hot water and just the darkness inside of the flat even during the day. A generator to cater at least for lights in the building would have been good enough, otherwise this is NOT acceptable. ALL WE GETTING IS, APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVINIENCE, CITY POWER IS WORKING ON THE PROBLEM, BUT WHAT IS AFHCO DOING ABOUT IT??????
Dear Sthembiso,
Thank you for bringing your query to our attention. We, at Afhco value your communication and take pride in attending to and resolving your query as speedily as possible.
As you should be aware by now, we continuously report any important notices to tenants by displaying same in the foyers and send update sms. Unfortunately, when we are faced with such issues as the current burned/****** cables in the tunnels, we await restoration of power as communicated by City Power and council. To assist as much as we can since this incident, we have provided all our affected buildings with generators to ensure emergency lighting (common areas and lifts) and that water is pumped through the tanks so that the supply of water continues. Also note that this has not affected other parts of the city hence some of the buildings/businesses are operating and have power from the city as normal (not that the other buildings have generators). Most of the buildings affected by this outage are not operating at all and have closed shop until the restoration.
The very latest update from City Power is that their team has been working 24 hours to repair and replace the cables and currently on schedule to have the power restored by Saturday the 9th September 2017. More updates on the restoration process are available on City Power’s twitter handle@citypowerjhb and through the media.
Should you need any further assistance or require any additional information, do not hesitate to contact us at *** or telephonically on ***.

Dear Sthembiso,
As this is one of our building's which has had water since the incident, our technicians are currently on site connecting generators for emergency lighting. Our technicians have been working around the clock since Monday connecting generators to affected buildings, especially those depending on power to pump water into the tanks.
