RENTAL DEPOSIT

im very much annoyed at the service these people have given me throughout my stay with them i lived at Hayani flat 424 moved in Feb 2017 in a 2 bedroom apartment along with a friend of mine. and since then among other things i have had issues with DSTV , security etc that which i raised with them a number of times with fail to assist from their side. in September of 2017 my roomy moved out and i then in December decided the 2 bedroom was too much and i then downgraded to a one bedroom apartment in flat 107 same building. mid month December i got part of my deposit back as the rental amounts were not the same last month i requested to cancel my lease as i have bought a house i moved out on the 01/11/2018 and have been calling afhco and emailing them and all of a sudden today after all my tries i am told i cant get my deposit back as i have not yet finished a year with afhco and my year ends in December. WERE THEY NOT SUPPOSE TO TELL ME THIS LAST YEAR DECEMBER??????????? which year now again??????????????????? i have heard these stories about AFHCO before never did i think i would find myself in the same dilemma

Dear Patro Thank you for your continued communication and patience,   After careful consideration and in view of your request to cancel the agreement before the end of the Initial Period (12 months period of the lease) thus breaching or not complying with the terms and conditions of your lease agreement; we are entitled over and above any rights in law to charge you a reasonable penalty.    For ease of reference, see as per lease agreement :  If the tenant cancels the Lease agreement with the Landlord before the end of the initial period, the Tenant agrees that the Landlord will be entitled to charge the Tenant a reasonable penalty.  We are also within our rights to charge a reasonable percentage on the remaining period of the contract (which always works out higher than a deposit) but we do not as we comply and always want to be as even-handed as possible.  Should you need any further assistance or require any additional information, do not hesitate to contact me at *** or telephonically on ***.
 Kind Regards
