Agent refusing to give me my deposit back
In December I submitted by notice to vacate the apartment I was renting from Jacqui Driffield who works for AFHCO. The apartment is in The Falls LifeStyle Estate Unit 17. Due to countless complaints about geyser which was always not working which resulted to an emotional trauma I suffered when my GrandFather, high bills which couldn't be explained for water & electricity as well as my safety as at one time I had to call the Police. Jacqui advised that it was okay to vacate the premises as the owner was selling the place.
I moved out on the 31st January and an exit inspection was completed.
Plus I repainted the whole place, walls, skirtings and doors.
She advised that the place looked good and clean and that I would have my deposit within 14 days the weird part is she never asked for my banking details which I then asked if I should send them and as per usual she kept quiet and I knew something was wrong. This agent has a way of always not disclosing information which is about the property or lease instead she would constantly gossip about how rude the owner was but when tables were turned she would take the owners side...Eg. I would ask for an itemised bill for the utilities. She will tell me it will be sent however later then tells me she cant because the owner refused.
On the 8th February she sent me an whatsapp message stating that I was in bridge of my lease agreement and that I wont be receiving my deposit anymore.
I was shocked as we agreed that the lease can be cancelled hence the agreement for me to vacate the premises by the 31st January.
I couldn't continue being in a place that I felt unsafe and had to call the police November 2021, where the bill was drastically high even though I didn't use hot water during that month. Which I just couldn't afford anymore. The stress and anxiety I have suffered from Jacqui and the owner is a lot. Plus the owner would send rude voice notes threating me even though she would never attended to my complaints. I want my money back
