AFHCO ROBBING US OF OUR DEPOSIT :(

We moved in at 60 Pritchard Street in Johannesburg on the 1st of August 2017 and paid R7200 deposit. We then notified the building manager early January that we will be moving out on the 29th of February 2020. The building manager (Themba) told us to remind him. We kept on reminding him every week. Themba then gave us a form to fill in on the 10th of February 2020 and told us that we have to submit the form the very same day. We then ran around going to police stations in the afternoon just so the form could be submitted that day. The day of moving out came, Themba was no longer a building manager but he had a replacement. The new manager told us that we need to move out quickly because there are people that need to move in (as a favor from him) that very same day. I told the new manager that we will not be rushed into moving out as we still have to clean the flat. After cleaning the flat, I told the manager that we are ready for a flat check-up, to which he responded: "I'm knocking off now, I'll be back on Monday". I was really confused by this because to my knowledge, a check-up is supposed to be done when we are still around. Nonetheless, we left. Today (09/03/2020), I decided to logon to the Afhco App and check my deposit progress. The latest statement reads:

According to this statement, R7 172.14 was used for painting a 2 BEDROOM FLAT!!! On top of ALL that, We still owe THEM R2 775.57. HOW RIDICULOUS IS THAT????? We are even charged a ProRata of SIX days when we actually submitted EVERYTHING on the 10th (We have proof of the dates).

What AFHCO is doing to their tenants is UNFAIR and I wouldn't recommend their flats to ANYONE!!! :(
