to pay or not to pay, that is the question
I returned to ADT after going to another service provider when they were bought out under the Fidelity umbrella. I have had NOTHING but trouble with my installation since Nov 2018. My system loses radio contact with the control room all the time. So literally any alarm activation or emergency situation is not picked up by the control room. (meaning I am paying for an alarm which is of NO safety benefit whatsoever). This occurred as recently as Nov 2019, I had to get a technician to come in and reinstate the system - he was literally there for 5 minutes, @ a cost of R534.75 (looking at the invoice, it shows he was here for two hours though) he literally reset the radio, tested my remote was working and that was it. Saturday 28/03 I had two intruders trying to get into my home - I pushed the panic button, NOTHING! I had to phone in to the call centre to get help. Luckily by then I has scared off the two men by banging wildly on my window (luckily they ran and didn't appear to be armed). So now I am faced with having to call out a technician to reset the system again. Surely if the same issue keeps arising, there is an underlying problem with the system? And if so, is it my responsibility to just keep paying for my system to be reset each time? Or should it be up to ADT to ensure the installed system is correctly installed and operational without interruption? I have no confidence in this alarm system at all. I need consumer advice on this aspect please. They are more than happy to send a technician, at my expense!
