The straw that broke the camels back

The only person I've found worth speaking to at ADT was Eve Louw. She responded swiftly, professionally and kept me in the loop with regard to my previous bad review on Hello Peter - but unfortunately one person cannot run a company.

I was quickly put in contact with the technical manager or co-ordinator of the Cape Town Fores**** area, and I had to explain AGAIN the reason why I've been having problems. I guess a detailed, terrible review and MULTIPLE screaming matches over the phone are not enough to actually gauge what a customer wants...

So I spoke to this man, and he assured me that a technician would be on-site on 30 July (a Saturday when we're opening) to fix the issue. The technician arrived (much to my surprise) on time, and got to work. 30 minutes later he was outside in his branded bakkie, writing his job completion sheet and readying it for my signature of approval. While he is writing, and while I'm knee deep in prep for the day's trading, the alarm goes off again, blaring blatant failure for all to hear. This is the last straw. I march out as the technician walks in, and tell him to get off my property. I tell him I'm not signing any paperwork he has for me, as nothing was done for a different outcome. I tell him he needs to tell his supervisor that since ADT is breaking their contract with me, I will terminate my contract with you.

The supervisor phones on the Monday 1 August - blissfully unaware of any notice given to exit the **********ly serviced security company. I give him a brief but harsh send-off, and he tells me he'll send me an email for an official notification I need to give ADT to cancel the service. It's the 2 August, and I still haven't received that email address. And on top of that, I receive an automated email from ADT warning us of over-excessive alarm activations this July. Do you know what 80% of them were? Fire alarm...and the remainder are activations from the other faulty zones.

Not a hell am I paying for those activations, not a hell am I paying for Augusts security fee, and not a hell am I paying for the apparent 'professional installation and connection' of my fire alarm to ADT's equipment.

ADT, please take me off your 'service' list, your monthly payments and your systems. I never want to struggle with ADT again. You've just made an anti-customer from your blatant failures.
