Regret - i should not have moved to ADT
Wow…..a month later and still NO feedback pertaining to my broken alarm system. Quick back ground - So I decided to move from CHUBB and rent a “FULLY WARANTY” alarm system with ADT (that’s what the brochure says and the Sales rep confirmed the fully warranty piece as well). The ADT technician came out and removed my “old CHUBB alarm system” (the same system that has been in my house for the past 14 years) and connected the NEW ADT alarm system to the existing CHUBB wiring (all this after I paid R1200 for installation etc). 3 days later I had a power surge/dip (not sure if it was Eskom or lighting as we woke up the next morning and the lights were out and the alarm system no longer worked). I reported the problem and a lady called me from REACT and the first thing I was told was that I needed to pay to have the system replaced. I tried explaining that it was a “fully warranty alarm system” and she advised she was sending the request to ADT. The second call I received was from an ADT consultant who also noted I needed to pay to have the system replaced. After I explained to him about the “full warranty” and also advised that existing wiring was used when the installation was done then he advised he would take this up with REACT. Now that you know the back ground, please can you explain the following? Firstly - Full warranty alarm system (is this false adverti*****t as everyone seems to overlook this piece and insists on me paying for a new system) Secondly – Does anyone NOT CARE about the fact that existing wiring was used? Even though I paid for installation, OR is this normal practice with ADT?? Thirdly - is the alarm system quality of such a poor nature that I would have to replace it after every power dip?
