Quick to take, not so quick to give!
On the 14th of November I submitted my cancellation to ADT for 2 account. On the 20th of November I received a confirmation email that the cancellation has been noted. On the 1st of December a debit order of R975.50 went off my account for radio licence fees for 2026 and the debit order for December, I queried the licence fees on the 2nd of December as I had submitted a cancellation and was told that the money will be refunded. I also spoke to 2 agents, one on the 5th and one on the 9th of December about the refund and reason for cancellation. I have also since then sent 1 more follow up mail regarding the refund and also my last active day with ADT Vaal. On the 9th I was told that my notice period is a month and that my contracts will only terminate in January 2026, I queried this as my cancellation was submitted in November. I was told that this will be done in December, but when???
To date I still don't know when my last day is with ADT, and therefore I don't know if I have armed response or not and when to sign up with the new company that is cheaper and responds a lot faster than 40min on an alarm. I live on a small holding and I can not wait 40min for a officer, nor can I not have the armed response. I also have no idea when I can expect the refund for the R975.50 that was taken for radio fees I will not be using. I guess I will have the refer this to the National Consumer Commission to get a response and refund from ADT.
