Not specifying that I was signing a 2 year contrac

So I'm moving after renting a house for a year. I only signed a year lease. When I moved in I carried my adt over to this house. Anthony the consultant came to see me. Not once did he mention I was signing a contract. He just said I'm signing to say he had been to see me etc.. So my lease is up and I'm moving.. As I have always done in the past I phone to cancel adt and I am told I'm bound to a 2 year contract and I cannot get out of it. I explain what happened and am told there is nothing they can do. In all the years I have used adt it has always been month to month. Anthony abused my trust most probably to get a higher commission. Where I am moving they have security so why should I pay adt for 2 years when I don't even live here. This was wrong on so many levels and I feel my trust was abused. Not once did he even mention the word contract. Y would I sign 2 years when I only signed a year lease in this house? Please look into this as it is very dishonest and disgusting to con people like this. Anthony should be ashamed! I'm living in Lambton Germiston.
