Good day Mr Bartmann,

Recently I had the extreme misfortune of a house fire at my home in 8 Lady Anne Avenue Newlands.

While lots of positive did come from a bad situation there is something which I think you should know about for future reference. On the night of the fire ADT were requested to guard the premises once the fire had been extinguished. During the early hours of the morning things were removed from the house. Items (that we know of at this stage) were jewelry, two small amounts of cash as well as 2 JBL blue tooth speakers possibly concealed in a a black Samsonite back pack which was also taken. Most of these items were in draws and cupboards which remained unburnt. Drawers we left hanging open, clearly they were rifled through. These items would have taken time to discover. This time was only available after the fire personnel and community had left.

I have telephoned and emailed ADT on numerous occasions to get a report from the guards on duty as to who they allowed into the property.

Finally on the 4th June I finally got a visit by two of their senior people after request to put this on the Hiding email news letter. Unfortunately this turned out to be simply a PR exercise as I have heard nothing from them since. As of today 6 weeks have gone by and still no answers from ADT.

This was not the experience anyone needs particularly after such a traumatic event such as we experienced.
