Misleading Sales Information About ADT Beams
This review is not about ADT’s general service or response times, but about serious misinformation from their sales team.
Before installation, we made it absolutely clear to the salesperson that our main concern was false activations caused by animals — particularly stray cats that roam our area. We were assured, without any hesitation, that the beams would not trigger due to animals. That assurance turned out to be false.
Since installation, the beams have gone off multiple times, often late at night, caused by exactly what we were told wouldn’t happen. When we contacted ADT to have the beam sensitivity adjusted, we were informed that it was already set to the lowest possible level — meaning there’s nothing more they can do to prevent these false activations. To make matters worse, we were charged a call-out fee for this visit, despite the issue stemming from misinformation provided by their own sales team.
This has resulted in repeated false alarms, unnecessary frustration, and additional costs. It’s unacceptable that customers are given inaccurate information at the point of sale, especially when it directly affects the product’s suitability. ADT needs to take accountability for misleading customers and ensure that their sales staff provide correct and transparent technical details going forward.
