Is ADT Security Part of the Mafia

We moved out of our previous house in May 2013, and duly cancelled our contract with ADT. Despite this, they continued taking the monthly fee from my bank account for more than a year. They denied ever receiving my cancellation, and I was unable to find the document and so I did not pursue getting a refund from them.
