******* Deduction From Bank Account
In early October I filled out, on the ADT website ********** a "CONTACT US - I AM AN EXISTING CUSTOMER" request to cancel my ADT contact as from the end of November 2017; I received no written feedback confirmation from ADT. On the 25/10/2017 @ 15:31 I called ADT and requested the operator to cancel my ADT contract from the end of November. As I had visitors, and allegedly ADT records all calls, after I had I believe made my request clear, and provided relevant information, I ended the call. On the 8/11/2017, I again called ADT to inquire why I had not received written confirmation of my contract's termination from ADT. The operator - Themba, stated that I needed to send an email, 30 days notice is required. I told Themba, I had filled out a "Contact Us - I am an existing customer" request in early October and submitted it to ADT, as this is an official ADT option, I had already done so. On the 23/11/2017 at 09:18, I received the following SMS - Fidelity ADT: DEAR ADT CLIENT RAN00436, KINDLY NOTE THAT YOUR SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH ADT HAS BEEN CANCELLED AS PER YOUR REQUEST, SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY QUERIES CONTACT ADT. On the 1/12/2017, ADT deducted R621.73, the December service fee and the 2018 wireless fee. I again sent them an email pointing out that I had received confirmation my contract had been cancelled and requested that ADT refund me the funds *******ly withdrawn from my account. I received no response from ADT. On the 3/1/2018, I sent an email to the governing body of the security industry - ********** asking for their assistance in sorting out my ADT problem, Tony, forwarded my request to ADT. On the 4th January, I received a call from an ADT representative at 10:53, the first time anybody from ADT had contacted me since I sent the request for a refund on the 3/12/2017. She stated that there is no record of me contacting ADT to cancel the service. I asked her if she had read the email attached to Mr Botes email from ********** she appears not to have done so, nor did she acknowledge that she had done any investigation into my request for a full December refund. After some acrimonious discussion, she stated that ADT were willing to refund the wireless fee, but not the December service charge, "As there was no record on their system". I pointed out to her that I had on on 2 previous occasions contacted ADT to cancel my contract from the end of November. On the 23/11/2017 at 09:18, ADT also sent me the following SMS - Fidelity ADT: DEAR ADT CLIENT RAN00436, KINDLY NOTE THAT YOUR SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH ADT HAS BEEN CANCELLED AS PER YOUR REQUEST, SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY QUERIES CONTACT ADT. The ADT representative then denied that ADT had any record EVER of my telephone conversation of the 25/10/2017 or my submission in early October using the CONTACT US - I AM AN EXISTING CUSTOMER facility requesting ADT cancel my contract, which gave ADT a FULL month’s notice to cancel my contract. She stated that ADT were willing to refund the 2018 wireless fee, but not the December monthly service fee. I protested and stated that I was entitled to a full refund of both the service fee as well as the wireless charge. As at today’s date – 01/02/2018, I still have not received ANY refund from ADT for the ******* December deduction of R621.73. ADT has acted, and is still acting in a sly, ********* and dishonest manner; I believe that potential customers should be aware of their underhanded business practices.
