False promises

I bought a new house and for the first time (I am a foreigner sort of new to this country) I contracted armed response. Adt offered a fair quote to upgrade or rather repair the security alarm by replacing some sensors. What was supposed to be a "half day job" turned into 4 or 5 visits because first they came late because they were waiting for supplies and then during the works they got a call and one of the techs had to leave. Then I had to babysit the works to make sure the system was truly set up properly, resulting in several after visits to finish the job properly. The techs however were willing, just overworked and hence easy to be forgetful or not torough.

So far I decided not to complain even though I experience a couple of false promises where control centre woukd say that they would report a fault to technical and I would get a phone call back and then I hear nothing.

Then customer service really started to get bad. One of their newly installed beams started to get triggered by trucks on the street. So switching it on by day is impossible without false alarms.

Adt told me that they woukd send out a tech the next day and promised to call me 2 hours before. All day nobody called or came. I called them late afternoon and they apologised and said he will come the next day and will call me before he comes. Again nobody called. Keep in mind that I don't live in the house yet and as I had explained to Adt everytime they make a provisional appointment I need to schedule my day to be at or near the house so they had better be reliable.

One week now passed. An email explaining their failure to come has fallen on deaf ears. I called the salesman who originally sold me the service and who was copied on the emails. He promised a resolve by the next day. That was today. Nothing happened.

The above and many other details I didn't mention show me the company has too many customers and not enough staff. This is what happens when you have new shareholders trying to maximise profits.

Something else strange happened today. Adt called me to say the alarm was triggered and they sent armed response and all was ok. They said the first phone number on their system was not being answered. I had two tenants in the house at the time. They didn't hear the alarm and the phone didn't ring either. So very strange.

I think it's true that we all have a false sense of security because we are enlisted with Adt. Another question they never answered when I emailed was why did they initially tell me that it's best not to have electric fencing so their guard can jump the palisade fence if need be, and yet in one of their visits they reported they cannot get into the property because of the palisades. It seems the salesman and the reality are not on the same wavelength.

I have given them an ultimatum to pull their socks up and if they don't jm terminating the agreement and if necessary going to the small claims court (if they don't wish to terminate).
