Battery Pack: if I die in the dark it's on ADT

My concern is that I had a battery pack charger installed not a year ago and when the power goes out, as it often does in South Africa, it has deteriorated to lasting an hour. Now I am left in the dark with no security. They will want to send out a technician and have me replace it , which is just buying another one essentially although it is a year old.
