ADT's installer code release racket
Just bought a house. The previous owner used ADT for alarm monitoring. My monitoring company said they would need the installer code in order to re-programme the alarm to send signal to their monitoring centre. I phone ADT and they refuse to give me the installer code - instead I must pay R175 for a technician to come and default the panel. This smacks of opportunism to me. I ask why can't you just give me the code? I get no answer, just insistence that this is the only way. And the R175 is an upfront payment. So ADT technician arrives and finds that ADT had not installed the alarm, they just monitored it. I now phone the company that actually installed the alarm - they email me their installer codes, immediately, no problem. ADT you can give me any excuse you like for not releasing your installer code(s) - they are all *******, esp. the one about 'security'. Just know that as a former ADT customer, that is the last R175 or any business you will ever get from me.
