ADT not concerned with customers safety during Covid 19 pandemic

Good day,

I am quite alarmed and disappointed at the attitude and disregard for the safety of our people by the employees of ADT during this current Covid 19 pandemic.

I am a new client of ADT and was advised that on the 2nd of June a technician will be sent out to check and set the alarm system at my home. There were 2 gentlemen (Mike and Philemon) that came to my home and the one was not looking well (He asked for water and kept cleaning against the door and cupboards for support and balance as he was feeling ill ). This made me quite uncomfortable especially due to the current situation of the increasingly high numbers of coronavirus infections in our country and around the world. Nevertheless, they did what they had to and left.

My brother who is also a new client, was also expecting a technician from ADT to go to his home and set the alarm system on the 3rd of June. He received a call on the 3rd of June advising that the technician had called in "sick" and would reschedule to come in the following day. My brother distinctively told the person on the other line that they should please send in another set of technicians as he is not comfortable having the person who called in sick at his home the following day.

My brother receives a call today from Mike (the same technician that was with the sick technician on the 2nd of June at my home) that he was scheduled to come to his home and my brother refused.

My brother then called the ADT Call Centre (image of proof of call below) stating that he had requested for a different set of technicians to be sent out and the person on the other end of the line HUNG UP THE CALL while he was still talking!

He has all the right to be concerned and cautious as our Parents live in the house of which my Mum has chronic illnesses and we also have a 9 month old baby that lives there!

I would really like to know how ADT is helping to protect their staff and customers that if a staff member is with another staff member who is ill, they should continue to go to work and visit other people's homes???

What measures and precautions are in place to ensure that when people are ill, they do not go to work and go out into the public.

Do the staff even get screened prior to commencing their duties?

Furthermore, the technician that was ill, even had his mask down on his chin and not covering his mouth and nose!

This is really concerning and unacceptable especially for an employee of the company to hang up on a call when a client is raising a valid and important concern.

I will ensure that this be taken to the media to make our fellow South Africans aware that ADT employees are not taking the deadly coronavirus seriously and that other people's lives do not matter.

I can be reached on ***
