I signed up with adt on 02/06/021 ,with agent george swartbooi i asked him in and out questions about my options ,he explained that if i buy the system i would not be in a contract with them ,otherwise i would be renting the system on contract .I opted to buy the system which i was told is my property .He then quoted me a price without vat which i agreed to ,then time to sign he adds vat, i was shocked but left it thinking i really need the system but very disappointed . Forward to May 2024 i want to cancel then i was informed that im in a contract for 3 years and i would have to pay a penalty fee for opting out as it only ends next year HOW????? this was never explained to me ,the penalty fee is only R524 but its the principle . i asked him specifically about the contract as i do not do contracts ,why would i do a contract for a security service ???? then i get emailed for cancellation and then they want to come and remove and i quote "rented Radio Transmitter & Aerial is the property of Fidelity-ADT and will be removed" which was also not explained . He said that everything that was installed was mine ,at no point was anything explained that there was stuff installed that was not mine.

People should be aware and the company should really do something about theses agents who leave out very important pieces of information ,no where on their website does it say anything about contract for security ,the contract has it in fine print which wasn't explained to me and no where on the page where they summarize the agreement ,it only shows the monthly instalment and no term ??
