ADT Handed me to Debt Collectors for an account that I gracefully Closed - Now no one wants to talk to me or help me

<p>I had a security account with ADT, which was transferred from my original house, 7 Wedgewood Complex Marimba Crescent Sonstrssl Heights Durbanville, to 3 ODINS CLOSE, ODINS DRIVE, THORNTON.</p> <p> </p> <p>I requested to cancel the conract in May 2015, when I moved to another house where I didnt need an armed response from ADT. ADT informed me that because the contract was still running, I will have to pay R459.00 inclusive of VAT should the new tenant not signed up with ADT on the premises. </p> <p> </p> <p>I spoke with the new tenant, which she signed up with ADT on the premises when her lease started 1 June 2015, therefore there was never break in service on the property. Since then ADT never contacted me, until sometime in 2016 i started getting odd calls from Debt collectors saying I owe ADT. I explained to them my situation and none of them want to listen, all they want is a date which I must pay the money they alleged I owe.</p> <p>Today I called ADT, the lady in the call centre tells me ADT cant help me because on her screen the account is closed and handed over. She told me to call the debt collectors. I explained to her that the Debt collectors do not want to entertain my story that my account was gracefully closed and the new tenant took over the arm response by signing a new contract. They want a date.</p> <p>I therefore ask ADT call centre lady to reroute my call to someone senior who can assist me, but instead she routed me to the Debt Collectors. </p> <p> </p> <p>This is now how ADT treat me as a former client, and no one wants to help me to resolve this matter. All they want is money. </p> <p> </p> <p>Below is the communication I had with ADT employee in May 2015 to confirm my account closure.</p> <p> </p> <p>"Dear Mr Mkhonto</p> <p> </p> <p>CANCELLATION OF SERVICES: 3 ODINS CLOSE, ODINS DRIVE, THORNTON </p> <p> </p> <p>Your correspondence of 13 May 2015 refers. </p> <p> </p> <p>We confirm receipt of your request for cancellation of the Monitoring & Armed Response service and advise that the service to the premises will terminate on the 31 May 2015. Kindly note your last billing was 01 May 2015.</p> <p> </p> <p>If the new owner does not sign up with us and you do not require services at your new premises, and should you wish to proceed with the cancellation prior to the expiry date, an early cancellation fee will apply in which amounts to R459 including vat</p> <p> </p> <p>Please be advised that the rented Radio Transmitter & Aerial is the property of ADT and will be removed should new owner/tenant not subscribe to our service.
