ADT expecting me to pay to fix their equipment!
ADT is a joke, really! This morning my alarm was triggered and no signal sent to ADT, my neighbour called me about the alarm. I phoned ADT and requested someone get to my house immediately. I then left work (10kms away) and still got there before the ADT security. Fortunately my house was not broken into, and I then tested the alarm 2 or 3 times and still no signal to ADT as nobody called me.
But here's the joke - I call in, and speak to the technical department and inform them of the faulty alarm system. I get told that I will have to pay a R399 callout fee. I promptly explained to the girl that when I switched to a month to month contract (when the 2 year contract expired) and asked for my monthly payment to be reduced to that of my neighbor I was told that I have a rental system and it cannot be lowered due to the rental system. NOW, my idea of a rental system is that it isn't owned by me....so why is ADT telling me I have rental system when negotiating the monthly fee, but when the system is faulty its my system? So basically I am not covered at the moment because no signal goes through to ADT. I need this alarm fixed immediately and the lady said Thursday is the soonest....even that is too late imo! I will not be paying any call-out fee on what I was told was a rental system. Seems ADT changes the narrative to whatever suits you better.
