ADT

I cancelled my ADT armed response about a year ago. Our contract had expired so basically we were going on a month to month basis. Today, 12th October 2017, I received a call from a debt collection company advising me that I still owe ADT an amount, due to early cancellations fees. I then proceeded to call ADT to enquire regarding this amount to which they confirmed it was for the radio transmitter and NOT outstanding fees as relayed by the collection company. My concern is that they never emailed nor posted me any invoice stating that we owe them this amount but instead hand us over to a third party company. At what stage does a company make a call to hand one over without telephonically contacting the account holder to ensure the invoice has been received in the first place! Is that not the logical thing to do? How are we to know 12+ months later, there are is an amount outstanding? After escalating the matter I received a call from ADT's credit control supervisor at 2:45pm (today), I explained to him what had transpired to which he confirmed there was a miscommunication from their end - (Funny how the consumer now bears the brunt for ADT’s disarray) he advised he would email the invoice to me immediately as I explained I would want to settle this TODAY, 4hrs later I am yet to receive the invoice!. I followed up again at 3:30pm only to be told the accounts department only works until 3pm and there is no one able to assist. As relayed earlier, we wish this matter to be retracted from the debt collectors and handled by ADT accounts manager/ financial manager personally, and a letter from the debt collector confirming the account is cleared on their side.
