Refuse a refund on a pre-payment

I paid for a year upfront for web hosting with Choice Hosting. One month after I paid they sold their business or transferred their business to Adept Internet. Had I been told that a sale of business was in process I would not have paid for a year upfront, but I was given no indication that they would not be my service provider for the year for which I paid.<br> <br> I was not happy with the service I received from Adept Internet as my sites were down a few times without warning and for several hours. I therefore found a new service provider. <br> <br> I have requested a pro-rata refund for the annual fee paid. Both Choice Hosting and Adept Internet has treated my request as a joke and have stated that they flatly refuse to refund me.
