Spare parts needed are not available in SA
My power button on my Acer Aspire laptop broke last week. I was in Jhb on holiday and inquired whether I would be able to get my computer repaired before last week Friday before moved on to Durban for the rest of my holiday. As I am an international student with UNISA and I am studying and submitting various assignments. I stressed to the call centre and to the agent in Durban that I would require my laptop to be repaired by Tues 16 March as I have assignment deadlines this week. If I don't hand in my assignment I cannot write the exams. I was told by the dbn agent this morning that the spare parts had been shipped to them last week Friday. I called this afternoon to enquire if the powerboards and motherboard had arrived. I was told that there are absolutely no motherboards or powerboards available in SA and that these spare parts will now be shipped from Portugal which will now only arrive at the earliest on Friday this week !!! Notwithstanding that my warranty expires in 2 days time as well. Will the warranty still be valid ?Now that the supplier can't supply the spare parts on time. Surely the agents should carry basic stock - or is it ok to make a customer wait for 2 weeks!
