ACER R11 CHROMEBOOK, PROBLEMATIC MACHINE
We purchased a "new" ACER R11 CHROMEBOOK at the end of 2017 for my son for use at Rivonia Primary school. The machine worked fine for about 6 months then it started having issues with it freezing, battery life and wifi connectivity issues. It was purchased via the agent CloudEd solutions (Richard Walters). Everytime issues were encountered the teacher just rebooted and it seemed to work for a while then again issues would occur. CloudEd solutions, while providing "support" were not very helpful in solving the issues. Now fast forward to this month and now the Chromebook doesn't work at all. Of course now it's out of warranty and they want me to pay R4300 to "fix" it, when a new machine is a few hundred rand more. The Acer service centre gives no explanation of the repairs nor the cause. Pathetic service indeed. Further Rycherde, from CloudEd solutions says, sorry but either you pay R4300 to fix or buy a new one for R5000. So basically fork out R10000 plus for chromebooks whereas I could have purchased an IPAD that actually works. I was in the market to buy a laptop for myself but after this disappointing experience with the ACER Chromebook R11, I will definately not be purchasing anything associated with the ACER brand. The expectation if you purchase a laptop that it lasts for a decent period of time, not for less than 18 months. My recommendation stay away from ACER ,if you know what good for you...
