ACER PCs set with BIOS password from Factory

Client of mine bought a Acer Aspire One Win 8 Netbook over a year ago. He now wanted to load a CD with an external drive but couldn't because the Bios wasn't set to load from CD. He called me and I told him all i needed to do was to set the Bios to show F10 at start to choose 1st load medium. I found that a password was set. I know the client very well and I KNOW that he doesn't know anything about the BIOS. I have phoned Acer Support in Midrand, and they say that there is no way to bypass the password(which he did not set!) and that he must ship(and pay) the netbook to Midrand, pay R650 to have password taken out, and then pay for it to be shipped back to him. <br> I think this is unacceptable! It comes down to *********!<br> I have googled this and I see that this has happened to lots of people all over the world!<br> I will advise all my clients and all and sundry that I meet, to keep away from ACER products , especially PC/IT products!<br> I am sure that they won't even bother to respond, but this has now become a crusade for me. <br>
