Acer Keeps Changing the Reason for Refusing to Resolve My Warranty Claim

I purchased a brand-new Acer laptop on 31 March 2026 from Incredible Connection. It developed a fault within 3 months and was booked into Acer's authorised repair centre on 23 June 2026.

What has followed has been a series of changing explanations instead of a proper resolution.

Initially, I was told that my laptop was outside the six-month Consumer Protection Act warranty period for a refund. When I pointed out that I had purchased it on 31 March 2026, making it well within six months, that explanation was dropped and replaced with new reasons for delaying the matter.

I am now being told that I must either:

Pay approximately R1,400 before Acer will issue a credit note, or Accept a refurbished laptop from the repair centre.

I find both options unacceptable. I purchased a new laptop only a few months ago, not a refurbished one, and I do not understand why I should be required to pay additional money to receive a credit note. The constant shifting of explanations, the unreasonable delays, and the proposed "solutions" have completely eroded my confidence in Acer's after-sales service. I expected a straightforward warranty process. Instead, I've been left without my laptop for weeks while the reasons for not resolving my complaint continue to change.

This is not the level of after-sales service I expected from a global brand.

Since then, I've been given nothing but delays and excuses while Acer says it is "investigating" and waiting for information from its repair centre. Now, after weeks of waiting, I've been told I have only two options:

Pay approximately R1,400 first before Acer will issue me with a credit note, or Accept a refurbished laptop from the repair centre.

How is it reasonable to expect someone who bought a new laptop just three months ago to either pay more money or settle for a refurbished replacement?
