Formal Complaint and Request for Review of Claim – Vehicle: 2014 Ford Ranger Wildtrack: policy number: 319480

Dear AA Warranties Claims Department, I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to formally raise a complaint and request a thorough review of the recent claim made on my 2014 Ford Ranger Wildtrack, which broke down in January 2025.

Following the breakdown, I took the vehicle to Pro Motors Bloemfontein for assessment. They performed a strip-and-quote inspection and diagnosed the failure as a result of overheating, quoting the necessary repairs at R102,000.00. Importantly, I would like to highlight that there were no dashboard warnings or indicators of overheating at any point prior to the incident.

An assessor appointed by AA Warranties subsequently examined the vehicle and reported the presence of a CAT (catalytic converter) modification, which was completely unknown to me. I purchased this vehicle in good faith and had no knowledge of any such modifications being made. I trust this should not affect the validity of my claim, especially as there is no concrete evidence linking the CAT modification to the mechanical failure that occurred.

Despite the severity of the damage and the extensive repair quote, my claim was only approved for R18,000.00, which falls significantly short of the actual repair costs. This amount is wholly insufficient, considering the nature of the breakdown and the fact that I have always remained a loyal and timeous-paying customer of AA Warranties.

Furthermore, the mechanic currently working on the vehicle has advised me that the CAT modification is unlikely to be the root cause of the overheating or the engine damage. This raises further concern about the basis on which the claim was partially approved and the remainder declined.

In light of this, I respectfully request that AA Warranties review this claim in full, with due consideration of the professional opinion of the mechanic, the lack of dashboard warning signs, and the fact that any modifications present were unknown to me and unlikely to be contributory.

As a loyal customer, I believe this situation deserves fair and impartial reassessment. I trust in the integrity of AA Warranties and sincerely hope for a resolution that reflects the service and protection expected from my warranty agreement.
