Disappointed with AA Warranties – Even Their Platinum Cover Let Me Down

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with AA Warranties and their AA Velocity Platinum policy, which is one of the higher levels of cover offered under the policy range.

I submitted a warranty claim for the intake air regulator flap on my standard Volkswagen Polo 6R GTI, only to be told that the component is not covered under my policy and that AA would not repair or replace it.

During a telephone conversation with a representative, I was informed that R2,500 was available as a benefit under my policy. I initially disputed the claim decision because I wanted clarity on why the component was excluded and whether the claim had been assessed correctly.

What frustrates me most is that I took out the AA Velocity Platinum policy expecting meaningful protection against unexpected mechanical failures. I chose this level of cover because I expected a reasonable degree of protection, yet I am now left having to arrange and pay for the repair myself.

This experience has seriously undermined my confidence in the value of the policy. I am requesting that the R2,500 benefit be paid directly into my bank account so that I can arrange the repair myself. I have also decided to cancel my policy because I no longer feel confident continuing to pay premiums for cover that has not met my expectations.

Customers deserve clear explanations of what their policies cover, transparent communication when claims are rejected, and fair handling of benefits communicated by representatives.

I would appreciate AA Warranties resolving this matter by confirming the payment arrangements for the R2,500 benefit and processing my policy cancellation.

Paying for Platinum-level cover should give customers confidence in the protection they have purchased. Unfortunately, my experience has left me extremely dissatisfied and questioning the value of the policy.
