AA Warranty

I'm a pensioner and I chose AA Warranty over all the other Warranty offers because I put great trust in them.

On November 9th on my way to Cape Town, I had a bakkie, Ford Ranger DC 3.2, breakdown shortly before Touws River I was able to pull over at a Rest Stop. I called AA Warranty to inquire about the next step and where is the closest AA-approved workshop to make sure I followed their instructions.

I was told the closest workshop is in Cape Town, so AA arranged a tow truck for which I paid over R8000. Later I later found out there was an AA-approved workshop in Worcester, JC's Auto Mech.

So instead, of being towed 90km I was towed 220km and paid double the amount on towing.

The fault according to the workshop was a leaking EGR unit. The insurance argued that they don't cover the EGR and the resultant damage to the cylinder head.

There is always cause and effect to damage. Is there really any cover?

I immediately cancelled the insurance. What's the point of having one? I chose AA-warranty because I had great faith in fair treatment.

I paid R4000 extra for towing because of incompetence plus the repair of the cylinder heat R40000.
