AA Warranties / !!! DONT TRUST !!!

I have given them One star because Zero isn't an option.

I would do everything in my power to stay away from AA Warranties and would NEVER Recommend using them for any warranties or any other service they offer .

My story started on 08/03/2024, when my 2016 2.2 Ford Ranger (150k km) left me on the side of the road.

I had it towed in to an RMI certified Mechanic, he then stripped and removed the head to see what was happening, and a small triangular piece of the Piston had broken off and damaged the sleeve in the process.

AA sent out an assessor and the assessor informed the mechanic that it didn't look like Overfueling could have caused that kind of failure but requested that the injector be sent in just incase, so the injector was sent in right away, This all happened earlier in the day on Wednesday ( 13/03/2024 ).

On that same Wednesday i receive a call from AA at around 16h00, informing me that they have received the assessors report and the failure was due to overfueling and that they have had plenty claims where this has happened and that overfueling was the cause, and that they will Pay out what i am covered for on "Fuel System" which is R10 500, and they will not pay out what my Motor is covered for which is R45 000.

I knew for a fact that it was impossible and i was not happy, as my previous diesel car was overfueling extensively and had all the symptoms of overfueling whereas my Ranger had absolutely Zero signs of overfueling. Nonetheless i call the Mechanic an hour after i receive the call from AA just to make sure that the Test on the fuel injector did indeed come back as Overfueling, so i call and ask him.....and he is as surprised as i am because the results for the test weren't released yet, meaning they had sent me the finalized claim before having any test results in hope that i would sign it so they can pay out the R10 500 for Overfueling, and then i would have to pay around R15 000 out of my own pocket as the repair quote was around R25 000.

So i called AA the next day to speak to someone in the complaints/Claims department, i was then informed that it is impossible for me to speak to an actual person in regards to a complaint, and that i had to send an email, which is what i did.

After sending the mil and giving them factual reasons why it cant be overfueling and stating that the results arent even out yet, they basically said that the claim was finalised and that what they can Pay out. I argued that they want to pay for the fuel system which is R10 500 but the motor is covered for R45 000 so why isnt that being used to cover the cost of the repair and they sent me a piece of the policy that states any damages caused by overfueling wont be covered and only the fuel system will be covered so the broken engine is basically your problem to put it plainly...

So i mentioned the part of the policy that states if more than one broken part is claimed for at the same time, they will pay out the part with the higher value , and that point was completely ignored when they rep**** 2/3 days later after me calling to follow up.

Ironically on 20/03/2024 the Injector tests were released, a full 7 days after they sent me the finalised claim to sign for "Overfueling".. Out of the 10 tests done on the injector, there was only a slight deviation and that was when the injector is under full load it underfuels very slightly.

So feeling confident now that they would pay out the R25 000 to repair the car so i could get it back because my policy states that my engine in covered for R45 000, more than enough to cover the repairs.... So i sent them the Test results and waited.

Today (02/04/2024) i receive a call from AA, they inform me that they see the damage was not a result from that Injector Overfueling, and that they wanted to send the other 3 injectors in for testing but it costs R700 per injector.. I told the gentlemen that sending the other injectors in for testing is a waste of both mine and their time because if the other injectors were faulty there would be damage to those pistons where there is none. I told him that i know what they are trying to do, they want to send the other injectors in for testing in hopes that one comes back with a slight overfuel so that they can twist it and say it was overfueling so they can pay out the R10 500 and not the Actual cost of repairs to the engine that is damaged.

He then went on to inform me that it might be best if i just take the cover for the overfueling as if they have to look into what the engine is covered for they will only replace what is actually broken, in other words they will only cover the individual Piston and sleeve and the amount that will be paid out will be even lower than what they will pay out for overfueling.

I was disgusted and shocked.. Included In the quote from the mechanic is new Bearings and rings which need to be replaced when Replacing pistons, you cant put the old bearings and rings in because thats just asking for problems.

I informed the gentlemen of this because i know how this goes, they pay for just the piston and sleeve and then the rest is my problem, and then if the old bearings and rings are used again, i drive my bakkie for a few months and it breaks again...and then we in the same boat and AA will tell me sorry its not their problem.

Long story short, today is day 25 of not having my car, and no solid claim stating they will cover the repairs which in my eyes is fair. i still have to pay the finance on my bakkie as well as the insurance. But AA is not bothered about making things move fast, and now i am doing what i was told and im waiting for an email from them stating they will now only cover R10 000 toward my engine....and then if im not happy i can reply to that mail and wait another 2 days for a reply to my complaint....and before you know it i will find myself paying my car next month and still waiting for fair cover.

I am not overexaggerating when i tell you that they are the worst warranty place i have ever dealt with, they are doing everything in their power to not pay out what is fair, my engine is covered for R45 000 but they will only pay R10 000 and that was after fighting them for days and days after they sent a claim stating it was overfueling 7 days before they even had any proof. I pray that no one falls for their fineprint and misleading wording.

In my eyes its blatant false advertising me and trust me when i say you will never get what they make you believe you will get.

Today i sit on day 25 without my car and i am in the same boat as i would have been if i didnt even take out a warranty with AA Warranties, i have spent all that money on a warranty that was supposed to cover me for the unexpected and thats what they were advertised as, but its all a lie.

AA Warranties are ******* and give you a false sense of comfort, please dont fall for it like i did. They communicate only through emotionless emails and dont care about what is Morally correct, if you are one of their clients then i would suggest you find another company because its only a matter of time before you have to claim and then the truth comes out, i know im not the only client of theirs that have been *****ed.

Stay far Away form AA Warranties.

I Have seen your Computer Generated replies with all the other AA Warranties, i know it goes nowhere. I have also just received your mail now stating that you will now only cover R9 180, and that the overfueling claim was a gesture of "Good Will" that isnt on the table anymore.

Everyone please stay away from AA Warranties, as you can see you will never get paid out was was advertised or what is right.
