AA Warranties do not honor claims.

Good day, I would strongly recommend anyone looking for peace of mind in a motor plan to steer clear from AA Warranties Underwritten by Lombard.

My vehicle has been meticulously maintained and was under manufacturer motor plan up until 210000km when it lapsed. I then contacted AA Warranties and committed to them for an extended motor plan on my vehicle.

at 220 000km my vehicle suffered turbo failure.

I took the vehicle into a reputable RMI approved repairer to assess the vehicle as I was experiencing loss of power. They then diagnosed the vehicle and found that there is turbo failure.

The auto repair then documented the failure with photos and a written report to AA Warranties.

I quote the auto repairers report wording below.

" Dismantled turbo and found billet to be damaged and metal fatigue, VNT component of the turbo has also failed, Found play on turbo exhaust wheel, Turbo to be replaced"

Now AA warranties are not willing to honor my claim, I quote in their words the reason why below.

"We will not cover wear and tear. Example: A bearing in the alternator that begins to wobble and squeak because it is worn out. Or when your vehicle’s clutch has become worn over time and starts to slip after you change gears. Or the gradual loss of engine compression that requires new valves or rings"

I find this answer completely unacceptable is this does not by any means according to myself pertain to the failure of the turbo.

I also quote the below wording from my policy wording received from them when I signed up.

"AA Mechanical Breakdown insurance will assist with a payment towards a mechanical, electrical and electronic failure of your vehicle. This policy is also commonly known as a warranty policy"

The above statement seems to not read true to their policy.

I further quote below from their policy schedule.

"Turbo or superchargers /air pump. We cover the: turbocharger unit /supercharger unit.

We do not cover: pipes and hoses."

Their response to me after querying this was just that they simply do not Honor the claim.

I trust that my experience will open the eyes of other consumers and serve as a warning to choose these kinds of warranty policies carefully.
