Dont let JSE Investor Services handle your share portfolio

My 96-year-old mother-in-law, FS Brummer, wants to sell her Old Mutual and Quilter shares. She gave my wife Power of Attorney to manage this since she is unable to do it herself. We've been working on this since 12 September and getting nowhere. Despite providing all the requested documents in September, they keep asking for more.

On 23 October, they told us the FICA process was complete, only to call later saying more documents were needed. We've spent hours on the phone and sent countless emails. If we didn't follow up, nothing would have progressed. Their customer service is appalling—the worst we've experienced in years.

We're fed up! The process for her Sanlam shares took less than a month, so why is this dragging on? Are they expecting us to bring a frail 96-year-old lady from Vereeniging to their offices? In this modern age, this delay is unacceptable.

We've driven to Vereeniging multiple times to get her signatures and assist with telephonic verifications, yet JSE Investor Services is still unsatisfied. Avoid letting them handle your share portfolios—when it's time to sell, you'll face endless frustration.
