Bad Customer Service and Processes

Without going into too much detail, (as it is too much) here are some points when I wanted to dispose of my shares nearly two weeks ago. 1. Due to them having the last 3 digits of my I.D. incorrect (Old Mutual had the right one along with all other Institutions) I was told I must sent a certified copy of I.D. and utility bill. They had all my other details correct however would not accept me just sending uncertified documents. 2. On receipt I was told it would then take 5-7 days still to sell off, I complained that the delay was on their side and they should fast track the sale. 3. When I phoned later and quoted the specific reference number they had given me, I was told they had not kept in on file. 4. No reply received to first email requesting acknowledgement of same. 5. No reply to second email to Janet Bloem instructing I was not prepared to pay the R114 admin fee, due to my time and phone costs. Even though Janet has a phone number at the bottom of her email, was told she does not take phone calls. 6. Requested to speak to supervisors, then call centre managers, non were available. 7. Deadline given to Kemsley to advise status by 10:00am 29/11 not met by Link

According to an email received on Wednesday from Mechelle Du Plessis this is not the case. Again we asked her to immediately contact me on receipt of my email to acknowledge same and again your Institution did not carry out this simple request. Can you advise what steps you are taking to ensure that this lack of service (as experienced by many other of your clients) is going to be rectified because if you don't have a plan nothing is going to change. I also now request that through whatever media you are able to use, kindly confirm the time and date the selling of my shares will or has taken efffect.

Today Monday 4/12/2017 no clear response and no monies yet transferred into my bank account. I rest my case on the shoddy and inefficient way this organisation operates.

Dear Shareholder

Your settlement will happen tomorrow. The sell order was placed on Thursday and goes into the market on the Friday with a T+3 settlement date.

The Manager is in the process of writing a letter detailing the corrective action you have requested and this will also be sent to you tomorrow.

Kind regards

Thank you for THIS response and I 'm glad to hear that you are looking at my constructive criticism with a view to taking corrective action, whilst this will no longer benefit me, I trust it will help your other clients who are still dealing with you.

I have today received a letter of apology from Sameer Kajee, who is one of Link Market Services Senior Managers and I commend them for accepting that their service was not up to scratch and that further corrective action has been taken, to avoid such future similar situations.
