Great promise, but ultimately disappoints

If you are after an incredibly rudimentary finance tracker, this is for you.

If, however, you are used to a 'proper' home finance application like Quicken or Microsoft Money, the app will disappoint (there is not even a concept of a standardised 'Payee')

There is enormous promise in the absence of an SA-specific home accounting app, but it appears the basics are neglected in favour of bells and whistles.

For me, the only benefit right now is the fact that accounts are automatically downloaded from the bank.

Hi Henri. Thanks for your feedback. Please bear in mind that it was never our intention for 22seven to become an accounting app like Quicken or Microsoft Money. Our intention (driven by user feedback) has always been to develop a simple, mobile-first budgeting app accessible to all South Africans.

Fair enough. It is a real pity as the platform could really fulfil such a function. Short-sighted in my opinion but if that is your business model so be it.

That said, the fact that manual transaction categorisation is so unreliable for (at least) Standard bank because it constantly gets over-written, it does not even perform the function of a simple tracker well because in all likelihood the user has to re-categorise all the transactions that they have categorised diligently during the course of the month when some final statement is received from the bank.

This has been the source of feedback for close to 2 years, and all you have done is throw your hands in the air and blame Standard Bank, rather than coming up with a creative solution yourself (which is quite possible).
