NOT SO BRIGHT TO INSURE WITH BRYTE

I booked plane tickets on 19 December 2019 to travel from Thailand to Vietnam. I purchased additional insurance and my bank unfortunately facilitated this through Bryte Insurance. This was before China and the World knew or reported anything on the Corona Virus/ Covid 19. When Vietnam Airlines started cancelling flights and the Government of Vietnam and World Health Organisation declared a pandemic, I had to curtail my trip and cancel the excursion to Vietnam. On my return in March 2020, I submitted a claim with 21 documents for costs involved due to the curtailment. Bryte immediately rejected the claim stating the cancelling of my insured journey is not a covered event under their policy - although the policy explicitly covers a pandemic. In March 2020, Bryte were not aware or did not have information on Covid 19. Further, according to them the curtailment of a journey needs to take place before the start date of the journey – quite impossible. Eventually after 100 days and submitting the same documents three times they refunded some expenses on a random basis. I submitted a complaint to their Complaints Department and after 81 days they responded and informed that this case will be dealt within 24 Hours. It is now 264 hours. So, if you can, do not use Bryte and if you do, be very aware of their interpretations and time lines.
