No payout for 6 months, and then a biased misinterpretation of the facts
In August last year we opened a claim against our Bryte travel insurance policy because we missed a connection.
Last month, after taking 6 months (!) to process the claim, Bryte make an unexpected decision to pay out only a small fraction (1/6th) of the cost of our return travel. The grounds given were that we missed a departure, not a connection. (This biases the claim in Bryte's favour because the maximum claimable amount is far less, depriving us to the tune of R75k of what is due according to the policy wording.
It has now been 7 months and Bryte has not given any substantive response to my letters about their mishandling of this claim.
People take out travel insurance specifically in order to avoid paying large sums of money on mishaps like this. As such, I find it extraordinary that Bryte sees fit to deprive their customers of any settlement for 6 months.
For Bryte to go to the further lengths of misinterpreting claims in their favour extends, arguably in my opinion, into the domain of *****.
This is appalling.
